It has been a great experience seeing all of you here, and hopefully introducing you to some very visionary artists, hopefully you will come see us in our new spot.

Lots of very trippy images in this very organic and psychedelic shop. Mushroomy visions that are really beautiful and real. I like this one “fireworks” but you should check out the line drawings as well. This one kind of reminded me of Alex Grey’s work (one of may favorite artists), a sort of celestial humanoid meeting of expression deep in space, perculating energy out of their glowing skins. I can’t wait to feature some more of Melody’s work, as I find it very interesting and hope you do too! - T

Majik markers and watercolors, what more does a true artist really need? I love the kinetic energy of the drawings in this cool gallery by Kinrisu. Trippy dots and squiggles add some jiggle to my already acidic vision. I really can’t look at them too long, not because they aren’t pleasing, but because suddenly the room starts vibrating and i start seeing neon dotmatrix everywhere. These are very cool and I really hope the art of Kinrisu makes you happy too. FYI Kinrisu is Japanese for Golden Squirrel… Go check it out and buy it now!

Yes I am a sucker for long winded titles and kooky collages. This is a really fun gallery by viviennestrauss, full of very surreal 50’s inspired twisty-twirly big-headed smiley girls and guys garnering vintage cameras and tv limbs. Carazy. lOvE it. According to her profile she has a collection of ceramic poodles and is really into Harpo Marx. Click on the picture to go to her shop!

Oriol has some great sketches in his shop -so stop by and check out all the cool artwork. I thought this was good for Halloween.

Yes, clowns freak me out, (i know cliché, cliché) but they do. Now that I think about it halloween kinda freaks me out! Kids with candy breath, guys on stilts, yuk.

So on Saturday I will be hiding in my room, waiting for it to end, holding tight to a wire coathanger, ready to gauge out the eyes of any wanna-be Jason that tries to break in.

Oh and I am having a Strangers w/ Candy marathon. Thank you Hulu! Maybe one Halloween I will go as Jerri Blank… one of my all time heros. -T

SO cute. I see the soul, don’t you? These wonderfully awesome photographs are by Sharon Montrose who we saw on Etsy Storque a few weeks ago. Totally love these photographs. Her amazing gallery has very affordable prints, perfect for holiday presents. Go check it out! - T

Goofiness. It is one of my favorite human attributes. I wish more people knew the joy of being goofie. I think Mikeatron knows how it feels. There is just something about these paintings that give me the impression that Mikeatron is a little on the nuttier side. These are some really crazy portraits of twisted moonheads, vomiting robots and farting dragons, all in amazing hues and colors… a totally awesome collection! I like it when you are really catapulted into an artist’s head thru the images that he/she creates. In these canvas lie some awesome imagery, beautifully fantastical but not cheezey, but just enough goofy to make me realize I’m not alone…

Thanks Mikeatron! - T

Altho this is an original painting there are also prints available of other works so make sure to check everything out! Click on the pic and go to his Etsy shop! or go to www.mikeatron.com

tiny tart - ice cream headache - $20

Wow, a secret unpublished book by Carl Jung surfaces. Called the Red Book, it is a mindbending stream of (un)conscious travel piece thru his own psyche. Hand written in a leather bound red journal … and with these amazing paintings as well. It is billed as the “most influential unpublished work in the history of psychology”. Jung is amazing, but this book I think is going to redefine my view of him… the paintings alone are enough to do that… these are really far out. Can not wait to buy this book. I don’t think a Kindle will do this one justice.

Ever since I read some book by Philip K. Dick (can’t remember which one it was, they merge) where he was the narrator and he described a crazy pink laser light that shined into his brain causing the images of a million cubist paintings go on shuffle in his mind’s mind, ever since that book I have been sorta fascinated with beams. When I see Ms Strickland’s pastel-y mystical images I feel nostalgic for prisms and rainbows and all the things that seemed very beamy to me as a kid. I really, really love the Paper Whistle Gallery, it is acidic and charming and sublime. Some people see auras, Paper Whistle breaks down the radiating beams! Check it. - T

living feral - he had big dreams - $15
We were lucky enough to...

living feral - he had big dreams - $15

We were lucky enough to interview one of our favorite artists. Living Feral aka Tracy!

Troy: So what is your favorite thing to do right now? Is it something new to you? Do you have any new hobbies?

Living Feral: I’m really into making collages right now, but that’s not new, though I stopped doing them for awhile. Besides making art my favorite thing to do is hang out with the wild/feral animals in the industrial area near my place. Though that’s not really new either - I’ve known one of the raccoons five years now, and one of the feral cats the same amount of time, and I know their kids and grandkids too.

Stephano: Please tell us of an artist we may have never heard of…

Living Feral: I went to art school with her so I’m kind of biased, but I really dig the work of Briony Morrow-Cribbs

Troy: What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen, maybe something you can’t really explain? (try to anyway)

Living Feral: I’ve had lots of uncanny experiences so it’s hard to pick the weirdest. The first thing that comes to mind - I used to know a street performer who would sit perfectly motionless for an hour at a time, and he wouldn’t even blink. People would freak out watching him, trying to get him to move. I had him to my place once for tea, and asked him how he did it. He said he meditated, and that he was experimenting with astral travelling. About an hour after he left my cats became transfixed on an area near the ceiling. I checked numerous times - no spider, no little bug. This went on for a few hours, and the cats could not be distracted. Finally I said, to the ceiling, “Well you can stay if you want, but I’m going to bed now.” Five minutes later my cats came to bed, and weren’t bothered by the ceiling ever again.

Troy: what is the first music you can remember hearing/loving. or what music are you totally into right now?

Living Feral: My grandpa always used to play Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy” whenever I went to visit and I loved that. Plus my dad had an amazing music collection, lots of imports, so I was listening to folks like Kraftwerk and Gary Numan early on, which was pretty strange in the small town where I lived then. I’m a big Tom Waits fan.

Troy: describe a dream you most vividly remember…

Living Feral: I tend to have epic, vivid dreams that would take pages to describe. I’m also prone to dreams within dreams - where I realize I’m dreaming, wake up and go about my business, and suddenly realize I’m still dreaming (cause hey, the house is suddenly a storey taller and that staircase goes nowhere…) I’ve been five or six levels deep. It can be very disconcerting.

Check out the very dream inducing artwork by Living Feral! Amazing!!!

i’m not so sure about this - bees and trees - $10

I like the title of this one! I feel this way about 80% of the time, but I don’t show it. It is best to keep those panic-y thoughts to yourself after all, isn’t it? Bees and Trees! Really quirky portraits of culture shocked housewifes and beautiful palm trees. Bees and Trees are two artists from Ashville North Cacalaki - as the indians used to call it. I will be sure to feature more stuff from this rad gallery soon, ok it’s off to bed- T

mibaji - drawing no. 6 - $30

Not quite sure what is going on in this drawing by Mibaji - but I like it. All of these drawings are done from stills of movies, but I can’t figure out what this movie is, any ideas? Reminds me of Blade Runner, but I know that ain’t it. Some film noir but I am not to educmicated in those. Mibaji takes requests so hit up the artist if you like the style and would like an original ink drawings from your fav film. - T

Yellena - Season - $20

I haven’t stopped in on one of my favorite galleries on Etsy in a while, and that is Yellena’s! I love this amazing, organic, and very trippy artwork. Right now you can buy 2 prints and get one for free. This shop always really inspires me and reminds me of how important it is to stay true to your self and your own artistic ambitions. The energy from these pieces just radiate power from within. I love it.

I like Flyk. Lots of ghostly portraits of little girls with dark eyes and some giant lanky monsters that remind me of those slippery rubber balloon filled with water toys you used to have when you were a kid- those ones where you couldn’t ever get a hold of because they always slipped thru your hands. Anyway this little monster and girl friendship sure is sweet! Check out all the great work at flyk’s shop!

jkl designs - ingenue- $23

It has been a crazy week. A heat wave in NYC. There is no cool air ANYWHERE! and our air conditioning is out! AHHH! I think I want a cigarette and to take off my clothes just like these two. Yes, I am just gushing over this one by Leigh Viner! These twins look like they know what they want and will probably get it! Beautiful prints… check them out, really amazing portraits in this rad gallery. -T

also check out her blog http://jkldesign.blogspot.com

voideville - thinking of or upon - $50

I am so very excited to have met the wonderfully talented, completely cool Kebrina Lott aka Voideville. I am not going to say a whole lott about her (yet) , we are in the midst of a very nice extended interview, (i can’t wait to publish it!) So for now take a look at “Thinking of or Upon” - a new favorite piece from this awesome artist and very elegant gallery of dancers, writers and poets from somewhere back in time. And it looks like there are a lot of new pieces up! Beautiful! -T

six for five shop - abe “pretty” levine - $35

I love this shop! Mobsters! Gangsters! Truly a unique gallery of portraits of Jewish hoodlums from the 30s and 40s… You gotta check out this site! Not only are the illustrations amazing… the bios that accompany each picture are in and of itself a very educational experience. Step back into time with each face and get an idea of what life was like in a time like no other. Highly recommended!

I was feeling a little scattered today, a wee bit confused, spacey, abtruse, complex, deep, hypothetical, indefinite, intellectual, nonconcrete, and unreal… so instead of rushing off to see a therapist- I decided to officially name Mondays on BuyThisNow “Abstract Mondays” - nothing better than a theme to get me feeling better- so here goes “nothing” (abstract, get it?)!

This cool little abstraction is by Callie Helen, from down in Austin Tx!* Callie has a great shop full of very wild organic protoplasmic weirdness, beautiful spurts and blobs. After perusing thru all of these little bits of transcendental data, I feel a lot better! Hurah for clumps and globs!!! Thanks Callie!

*btw, i got lots of friends in Austin… hey Ya’ll!
